Precautionary measures
• Power cycle the dishwasher: Turn off the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then turn it back on to reset the control system
• Verify the circuit breaker is in the ON position and has not tripped
• Ensure the dishwasher door is fully closed and listen for a definitive latch click
• Open the door fully and visually inspect the latch mechanism for visible damage, cracks, or misalignment
• Remove any visible debris, food particles, or buildup around the door latch and strike plate using a soft brush or cloth
• Check that the door hinges are properly aligned and the door sits evenly in the frame
• Gently open and close the door 5-6 times slowly, listening for the latch engaging consistently
• Inspect the door gasket/seal for damage, warping, or misalignment that may prevent proper closure
• Verify water supply valve is fully open (located under the sink behind the dishwasher)
• Check inlet hoses for kinks, pinches, or damage restricting water flow
• Inspect and clean the filter basket and spray arms of any blockages
• Confirm you are using appropriate dishwasher detergent in the correct amount
• If error persists after these checks, contact a professional appliance repair technician who can test the door switch, inspect internal wiring, and assess whether latch replacement or control board service is needed
