Problems you may notice
• Dishwasher fails to start or stops mid-cycle
• No water fills the dishwasher tub
• Cycle completes without water spraying on dishes
• Error code A09 displays on the control panel
• Dishwasher makes unusual sounds or no water-related sounds
• Dishes remain dirty after cycle completion
• Water appears to drain immediately upon filling
Possible Causes
• Water inlet valve is clogged or malfunctioning
• Inlet hose is kinked, bent, or pinched restricting water flow
• Main water supply valve under the sink is partially or fully closed
• Water inlet hose connection is loose or disconnected
• 120V water inlet solenoid valve has failed
• Filter screen in the inlet valve is blocked by mineral deposits or debris
• Dishwasher door is not fully latched, triggering safety cutoff
• Circuit breaker for the dishwasher has tripped
• Water pressure to the home is below the minimum 20 PSI required
• Defective water level float or sensor
Precautionary measures
• Check the main water supply valve under your kitchen sink - ensure it is fully open (turned counterclockwise)
• Inspect the inlet hose running from the water supply to the dishwasher for kinks, cracks, or damage - straighten any bent sections
• Verify the inlet hose connections at both the water valve and dishwasher are tight and secure
• Make sure the dishwasher door is completely closed and latched until you hear a click
• Check your home's circuit breaker panel - reset the breaker dedicated to the dishwasher by switching it fully off for 60 seconds, then back on
• Turn off the dishwasher at the power switch, wait 2-3 minutes, then turn it back on to perform a full reset
• Remove and inspect the dishwasher filter located at the bottom of the tub for debris or mineral buildup - rinse thoroughly
• Check the spray arms for clogs by removing them and running water through the holes
• Verify you are using the correct amount of detergent for your water hardness level
• Listen for water running to the dishwasher when a cycle begins - if no water sounds occur, the inlet valve may be blocked
• If the issue persists after these checks, contact a professional appliance repair technician to diagnose the water inlet valve or internal sensor components
